“I encourage businesses large and small to work with the Food Standards Agency to get this right. Success will mean more choice and better protection for the millions of people – our families, friends, colleagues and neighbours across the UK – who have food allergies.”
Heather Hancock, Food Standards Agency Chair
UK Food Labelling Resource
The UK Food Labelling Resource is a non-profit information group formed by Nutritics, a provider of allergen management and nutrition labelling solutions. This group represents stakeholders from across food industry, research, labelling and government and was established to support the effective roll-out of new food labelling legislation in the UK. Natasha’s Law is set to come into effect in October 2021, having been officially introduced by Michael Gove in June 2019.
The goal of the UK Food Labelling Resource is to help UK food businesses of all sizes to prepare and adapt to the changes brought about by the UK Food Information Amendment 2019 (Natasha’s Law). The UK Food Labelling Resource aids businesses by first raising awareness of the law and then providing businesses with access to all the latest research, frequently asked questions, advice, training, workshops, and resources related to new allergen labelling rules in the UK.
Resources
The UK Food Labelling Resource has utilised its partnerships with the UK’s leading universities, nutritional researchers and food labelling specialists to provide the most relevant information related to the UK Food Information Amendment.
Under Natasha’s Law, UK Food Businesses must list all ingredients with all allergenic ingredients emphasised on packaging of products that are considered prepacked for direct sale (PPDS). If you sell PPDS food, then you must ensure you have implemented the new regulations by the deadline. Representatives at the UK Food Labelling Resource have collated a bank of information from government agencies and relevant independent bodies to help your organisation prepare in the best possible way.
